During Your First Visit
We understand that it’s only natural to be a bit nervous the first time you come in for an orthodontic appointment, no matter your age. Not to worry—we are here to put you at ease, answer all of your questions and address all of your concerns.
As with any initial office visit, we want to get to know you. You will be greeted at the reception and be given an iPad to fill out relevant forms in order for us to obtain information about your health history, allergies, dental history and insurance etc. To save you some time, we would be glad to send you a copy to fill out before your first visit and you may also access them from here electronically If you have any questions or need any help with the initial paperwork, our knowledgeable staff is always here to assist you.
The next step is meeting our New Patient Coordinator and starting the diagnostics process with photos, X-ray imaging of your teeth and 3D digital impressions. (If this is your first visit with us, and if you have had panoramic X-rays taken within the past year, please bring them in or let us know so we can request a copy from your dentist.)
Dr. Li will then come in and evaluate your teeth, facial pattern and smile. Based on her findings, she will sit down with you and discuss whether your teeth show malocclusion and her recommended plan of treatment based on your specific needs. She will explain which options will work best for you such as Invisalign, ceramic braces etc., and answer any questions that may arise during the process.
If Dr. Li determines treatment is necessary or advisable, the Financial Coordinator will discuss financial information, insurance benefits, and a method or plan of payment that works best for you. We love to help our patients get the beautiful smile they deserve. For this reason, we will devise a plan of payment that will fit within your budget.
We understand sometimes you are excited to get started after all that, so occasionally if a patient and his/her family are ready, we can even begin treatment that day!
During Your Second Visit:
The diagnostic records taken during the first initial visits are key for Dr. Li to design the most efficient treatment plan for you, your schedule and your budget. After addressing any questions which you may have during the second appointment, you will actually receive your braces, Invisalign or any other appliances to help you get to the smile of your dreams.
After the Second Visit:
For best results, a crucial part of orthodontic treatment is to allowing your orthodontist to check your progress every four to eight weeks. We understand life can sometimes throw lemons at you, so if you are running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
Continue to visit your family dentist every six months during orthodontic treatment to receive dental checkups and keep those pearly whites in their best state is vital to having a healthy set of teeth at the end of your orthodontic journey. We would be more than happy to coordinate with your family dentist if your teeth are in need of extra dental care. It is our goal for every patient to receive the absolute best care possible.
